Relay Teams Swim 9 Miles Across the Bay for Baykeeper

The Swim for the Bay is a non-competitive fundraiser swim to support the efforts of San Francisco Baykeeper to protect the Bay from pollution. Each swimmer must raise $400 for Baykeeper's work to defend the Bay.

DETAILS
The 9-mile swim begins at Needles Rock (located between the north tower of the Golden Gate Bridge and Horseshoe Bay) and finishes in the East Bay. Swim times are expected to range from 2.5 to 4.0 hours. Water temperature is expected to be 61 degrees. Click here for a map of the swim route.

THE RELAY:
Relay participants should organize a team of three or more swimmers. We can assist with finding teammates if needed. Solo swimmers and two-person relay teams are allowed with prior approval from the Swim Director, subject to skill level and cold-water swimming experience.

Each team is responsible for supplying a motorized escort boat equipped with a VHF radio. We can help you with these arrangements if necessary.

FUNDRAISING:
Swimmers pledge to raise $400 each to support San Francisco Baykeeper's work to protect San Francisco Bay from pollution. Your $100 registration fee will be applied to your fundraising goal. Swimmers may create a personal online fundraising page at www.baykeeper.org/swimforthebay/fundraising

REGISTRATION:
Each swimmer must register for the event separately. Individuals registering as solo swimmers will be contacted by the Swim Director to verify swimming experience.

DONATIONS:
You may make an online donation to the swim at www.baykeeper.org/swimforthebay/donate

AWARDS:
San Francisco Baykeeper will host an awards ceremony at the post-swim party. A special award will be given to the top fundraisers.

SWIM FOR THE BAY PARTY:
Join us for a Swim for the Bay party at the historic Dolphin Club on the shoreline of the Bay. We will celebrate the swimmers, San Francisco Bay and Baykeeper’s mission!

The festivities will feature delicious food, beer and wine from local purveyors, as well as a silent auction and raffle. The event will be held after the swim at 4 PM on Sunday, September 30.

Admission is free for Swim for the Bay swimmers and to donors who contribute more than $50. Please note that only the balance of your contribution over the estimated value of the ticket cost ($50) is tax deductible.Additional tickets can be purchased at www.baykeeper.org/swimforthebay/party

VOLUNTEERS:
We could use some help at the swim finish and at the post-swim celebration at the Dolphin Club. If you'd like to lend a hand, please email Tracy Corbin at [email protected].
