Undaria pinnatifida is an invasive algae that has been spreading up the California coast, often attaching itself to the hulls of boats. Left unchecked, the kelp can crowd out native organisms and disrupt the ecosystem. Please come out and help stop the spread of Undaria! RSVP to zabinc@si.edu
If you're a boater, please keep an eye out for this invader at local marinas and report suspected sightings to SERC. Contact them at marineinvaders@gmail.com or call (415) 435-3528. Read more information from SERC about the spread of Undaria in San Francisco Bay.
