The Biden administration has sided with environmentalists in their long-running battle with Cargill Salt over whether an expansive property on the shoreline of San Francisco Bay in Redwood City can be developed. In the latest chapter of a saga that has played out for 12 years with potentially billions of dollars at stake, the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency on Friday dropped the Trump administration’s appeal of a federal court ruling from last October that concluded the property, located east of Highway 101 near the Port of Redwood City, is subject to the federal Clean Water Act.
