Stop toxic oil industry pollution in the Bay

KPIX recently reported on Baykeeper’s new legal action to protect San Francisco Bay from an oil industry polluter in Benicia, the Amports ship-loading facility.

See footage from Baykeeper’s drone patrol and interview with Field Investigator Cole Burchiel.

“We get out here as often as we can and we see some sort of exposure event almost every time we are out here,” reports Cole.

“What we are seeing is the mishandling of petcoke in the loading operations of these vessels, and as result, not only are we are getting airborne contamination but we are also getting contamination in the water.”

Baykeeper’s legal team has filed a notice of intent to sue and is ready to stop this toxic pollution.

With your support, we’ll hold the Amports facility accountable—and continue patrolling the Bay to find and catch polluters.
