Dear Friends and Family: In just one week, I will swim again in Baykeeper's annual Golden Rivet Swim, a relay from the Golden Gate Bridge to McCovey Cove. Please join me – and venerable San Francisco companies like Anchor Brewing, the SF Giants, and Levi Strauss & Co. – in supporting this amazing event. Workers drove the final rivet into the Golden Gate Bridge exactly 80 years ago. See www.youtube.com/watch?v=sUd0zR9s070 Made of solid gold, it honored years of coordinated effort, funded by the local community, yielding a landmark that is both gorgeous and critical to our welfare. This is the essence of what Baykeeper does for the waters below; we protect a gorgeous resource critical to the social and economic health of the community. We do this for fishermen, for families visiting the beach with their children, for kyakers, sailors, windsurfers, stand-up paddle boarders, and open water swimmers too – for everyone! The Golden Rivet Swim honors all who help. We brave the cold and the currents to thank those of you who donate to help fund the only boat that regularly patrols the Bay for illegal pollution. Learn more at www.baykeeper.org Why are we so excited to participate? Why do we do what we do, no matter the weather, no matter how cold it gets? Tough to explain, but the short video near the top of this page is start: www.baykeeper.org/bayparade/swim Thanks everyone! PS: A special thanks to the Dolphin Club for its help with this event!
