Drink beer, and help the San Francisco Bay, too

Thirty years ago, citizens concerned that industries and cities were polluting San Francisco Bay without consequence stepped forward and, with the help of donors, launched a nonprofit that has served for the three decades since as the chief environmental watchdog of our great estuary. Today, San Francisco Baykeeper, staffed by 12 people, patrols the bay every week, watching for polluters in action. Nearly 300 times, Baykeeper has won court battles against alleged violators of environmental laws, leading to actions that, ultimately, have curbed the flow of contaminants and trash into the bay.
